CON CARNIVORO: Online Debut

Thursday, 26 February 2009

Last night I get an e-mail from one of the most creative forces I've had the privilege to befriend, Director/Producer/Editor/Photographer/Visionary/Beatboxer/Emcee/Drunken Beer Bottle Dancer Extraordinaire Joey Angerone and it went a little something like this:
"If you know my first short... 'Teeth Don't Grind' then you're already familiar with my style. Unlike TDG however, I wanted to make this one quicker and less cryptic, with a much more focused plot. It's a ten minute black-comedy about a man with PTSD that spends a week alone in the woods. The trip somehow leaves him with an insatiable urge for blood and meat. HUNGRY FOR MORE? It includes a fine cast of miscreants including Mike Hernandez and Roland Barry of TDG fame (or lack thereof). This film also marks the end of what many would call a 'dark period', but it represents and embodies all that I've learned in the past couple of years."

If you're squeamish about blood and random acts of violence against poultry, I suggest you grow some hair on your knuckles. Peace to the 6th Sense cameo.

K'Naan

Tuesday, 24 June 2008

Like you all, rarely am I truly captivated by an artist the first time I hear him. One of those exceptions however was the first time I saw the video Somalian rapper K'Naan made using Lupe Fiasco's "Kick Push". Detailed, he described a situation overseas in Sweden while on tour. The articulate wordplay and unique voice immediately pulled me in.

This is no ordinary undergroud rapper. In fact, K'Naan cannot even be considered underground. Not with a debut album released in 2005 in Canada that earned him a Juno award for Best Rap Album. That same album is being released today in the United States, and I plan on buying a copy as soon as I find out where!

For more on K'Naan, check out his myspace, as well as this interview I found on formatmag.com. While you're on his myspace, make sure to also find his video "KickED, PushED". This is, as formatmag said, "music with a message."
