Indestructible

Friday, 4 September 2009

It's just been announced that next year, Guy Ritchie will start work on DC comics anti hero character, Lobo.

If you don't know about Lobo, all I have to say is, what kind of sorry upbringing did you have? Lobo is the ultimate anti hero, a bad ass cigar smoking blue alien bounty hunter who is virtually indestructible and rides an incredibly cool Harley Davidson like motorbike.

You can read more about this news HERE.

Yup, I'm excited...Lets hope Mr Madonna does not mess things up.

The new Tron movie arrives. Watch the trailer below that has in the words of Paul Wall, "Got the innanet going nuts"

5 Things (7-19)

Sunday, 19 July 2009

Been a long time since I did an edition of "5 Things I Like Right Now", so I figured it was about that time again for me to compile a list of ... 5 things that I like right now.

#1) Since Harry Potter was for me, a huge Harry Potter fan, somewhat of a disappointment, I have turned my back on movies. At least until 09/09/09, when Tim Burton's new movie "9" comes out. The film is absolutely visually stunning, and the storyline is very intriguing. You can watch the trailer below.

#2) Pretty women. Parties. Occasional Nakedness. Traveling. Random Photography. All things that I love (in moderation), and all things that you can find at lastnightsparty.

#3) I'm always on the look for new clothing companies that produce excellente tee's. I'm a huge fan of t-shirts, and the more creative, yet simple, the better. One that I recently ran across is Ideall Clothing Shop. I have to add this one to my collection sooner than later.

#4) justhearit is a beta site aimed at becoming the most innovation on demand music service online. Basically, you can instantly listen to any song you want without paying, or signing up for anything.

#5) Is 2009 the year Trey Songz emerges as a major roleplayer in r&b? In my opinion, Trey has always been one of the best, and I even went so far as to buy his last cd last year on the strength of two really good singles. This year, with the meteoric rise of one of his close friends Drake, Trey has seemingly taken his career to another level. With an album coming out soon, he's been putting out a ton of material, and this mixtpe, Anticipation, is definitely worth the dl.

The Other Moon

Forget all the hype surrounding Twilight and it's sequel New Moon. If you want to watch a really good movie I suggest you get ready for a movie written and directed by David Bowie's son (he uses another name to avoid cynical nepotism) simply called, Moon.

It's roughly about a lone astronaut on the moon coming to the end of his three year mining contract when he has an accident and begins to hallucinate.

From the trailer alone, I'm looking forward to seeing this minimalist film which will probably have me wondering what it is exactly about the moon that fascinates and motivates both father and son Bowie to give forth excellent work.

It All Ends Here

Friday, 19 June 2009

The third trailer to Roland Emmerich's new movie. It's based on the Ancient Mayan prediction that the world comes to a head stop in 2012.

Looks like a white knuckle ride of a movie in the veins of Independence day and The Day After Tomorrow, both of which were made by Emmerich.

On the real though, I have been hearing about the end occurring in 2012. What are the details of the Mayan predictions? Anyone care to educate me?

Skating A Day In The Life Of...

Tuesday, 16 June 2009

Rob Dydrek's much talked about skate film, Street Dreams will be in cinemas in the states soon and to hype up it's impending arrival one of the trailers released focuses on pro skater and former captain of Pharrell's Ice Cream skate team, Terry Kennedy.

A lot of people will probably recognise him from the Blade TV series. But how many of you know him as a rapper and member of seminal 90s rap group, Onyx?

Next month he will be releasing a film, sounds basic enough. After all it's what actors do, right? Well, no, not Sticky Fingaz.

The film is called "A day in the life of" and it stars everyone who is anyone but this is the part where it really gets good, they just say their lines in the conventional way, they rap it! All the dialogue in the film is delivered in the form of rap.

Check the trailer out below.

I'm not entirely sure but did Sticky not already make a film like this with his criminally slept on "Black Trash : The Autobiography of Kirk Jones" album?

You have to listen to "What if I was white" with Eminem from the album.

Ghostbusters III And Other 80s Movies To Be Remade

Tuesday, 9 June 2009

Yup, that's right. It seems like Hollywood did not get that memo declaring the end to everything neon and 80's related that saturated, and in some cases choked us silly two years ago.

The big brains in Lala land have decided not only to make another Ghostbusters movie (With the original cast in zimmer frames, I suspect) but they are shamelessly grave robbing their own archives to find great movies of yesteryear to remake. Has creativity hit an all time low?

I swear to God, if they remake 16 Candles ,The Breakfast Club or Weird Science, I'm going to hurt somebody...I honestly will.

In the meantime read all about the film archive or rather, grave robbing shenanigans HERE.

-Sigh-

District 9

Wednesday, 6 May 2009

Remember a few weeks ago I posted THIS? J just brought it to my attention that Peter Jackson, yes that one, has helped Neil Blomkamp bring that short to the big screen.

I'm REALLY excited to see this! Watch the trailer below...Excitement levels are VERY high right now!

Hurt Em Bad

Saturday, 18 April 2009

A new film by Kathryn Bigelow set in Iraq following the stories of three American guys/soldiers encountering a lot of dangerous situations over the last few weeks of their Iraqi mission.

I have no more info about this film as I have only just come across it myself but from the trailer below, it looks very interesting and beautifully shot.

From the IMDB info, looks like this is going to be a limited release. Even going straight to DVD in Brazil...Hmmm...

Deeper Than Rap Indeed

Saturday, 4 April 2009

He's taken a lot of flack from 50cent and his fans lately but has managed to persevere. Rick Ross is really surprising me, honestly.

I have to admit, I have never been a fan but the tides are starting to change. First, I find myself humming to "Magnificent" with John Legend, then I'm loving the simple yet effect and aesthetically pleasing design of his album cover.

Now, I'm being bowled over completely by the "Bawse". Why? Well I just came across the trailer to a short film he executive produced but shot by Rik Cordero to help push his album. What a novel idea!

Between you and I, I would never have imagined the "Bawse" would be this savvy with ways of promoting his upcoming opus, and it works because I'm actually anticipating it!

Crazy, huh? Check the trailer out below.

I love that! The colours, dark and gritty yet somewhat glossy. Some of you may not know, but I love the whole concept of branding, advertising and all that good stuff.

I may have dissed Rick Ross in the past but today, I take my hat off to the man, he really knows how to strategically target his niche market as well as position himself in a hard marketplace.

BAWSE!

Bruno : The Trailer

Thursday, 2 April 2009

After you offend half the planet with Borat, what do you do next?

If you're Sacha Baron Cohen, you reach into your bag of comedy and pull out Bruno. Watch the trailer to perhaps this year's funniest film below.

I May Actually Go See This

Monday, 30 March 2009

When I read they were making another Star Trek movie, I thought, good God. But a few weeks ago when I went to see The Watchmen, a trailer of the new film was shown and it really does not look half bad at all.

They are pretty much reviving the franchise by going back to the beginning (Think Dark Knight), thus gaining a new generation of fans. I remember thinking, dude this really is not bad at all...I expected worse as I have always seen Star Trek as boring due to the future being so clean and all the races of the universe speak English.

So now the question stands, what lovely geeky female wants to go see this with me?

Where The Wild Things Are

Wednesday, 25 March 2009

Trailer of the forthcoming film from Spike Jonze. Remember that sneak peek trial shot we showed you last year? Well the full trailer looks really cool.

Bale Is About To Lose It Again

Monday, 23 March 2009

Apparently, the ending of the new Terminator movie has been leaked. By whom? Nobody knows, this much I know, Bale will destroy whoever it is when he finds out. I pity the fool.

Read it all HERE unless you're one of those types that will not bother to see the movie once someone tells you about the plot or ending.

Those kind of people always seemed weird to me, I mean how can you not enjoy it cause you know the ending? I knew about the ending of The Usual Suspects (courtesy of Jay Z and a few people) waaaaaaay before I saw the film and still enjoyed it.

Weirdos.

Astrological Images

A promotional image for the upcoming Astroboy film has premiered online. Thats the image above, and although not really a fan of the old cartoon I hear this one has a star studded cast.

It is also a completely CGI movie, I wonder how well it's going to look.

Whats the story behind Astroboy anyway? I never got into it, all I know is it was originally a Japanese cartoon, no?

Belly Laughs

Thursday, 19 March 2009

Sacha Baron Cohen has a follow up movie coming out in July, based on another of his characters from the Ali G show.

It's Bruno the gay fashion obsessed German. From the jump I can tell this is going to be hilarity and I have been proven right, stumbled across this as I was about to log in to read my emails.

"Bruno is Baron Cohen’s overtly gay, extravagant and fashion-obsessed alter-ego from 'Da Ali G Show'. So what was our verdict? We were shocked. Very shocked.

The premise of the film: "Bruno is the star of the biggest German-speaking show on television in every single German-speaking country. Except Germany."

Patience Is A Virtue

Monday, 16 March 2009

True, but not when you're a comic book fan who cannot wait to see some of your fave heroes team up on the big screen.

Read all about it HERE.

Did anyone else thoroughly enjoy the Iron man film?

African Aliens And Robocop

Thursday, 5 March 2009

While taking a break from an editing session with my boy J today, he showed me a thought provoking short film on youtube.

It's a short from Neill Blomkamp called, Alive in Joberg. A film that explores social issues in South Africa using a sci fi twist. I'm not going to speak much on the film I'll let you guys watch it and draw up your own conclusions.

When I got home from editing, I decided to find some more stuff from Mr Blomkamp and found yet another sci fi insipired short called Tetra Vaal.

From what I gather, Mr Blomkamp is at the helms of the Halo movie. Should be good.

Claws At The Ready

Saturday, 28 February 2009

Just got hold of these, new promo pictures for the upcoming Wolverine movie. It opens on the 1st of May in the US and should open out here a few weeks later.

I have to say Hugh Jackman is looking really menacing in these pictures as Wolverine, but you know who I think would have made a great Wolverine? Jack Nicholson, yeah Jack Nicholson. If only he was years younger or the technology was available in his time.

If you've seen the film "Wolf" you'll understand why Jack would have been a great choice for Wolverine. Enough talk, check out the promo pics below.

Also, the big kids should rejoice. Toy company, hasbro will be releasing wolverine like claws so you too can fantasise for hours unend that you're Logan and part of the X Men.

Sweeeeet!!!
