Tap or Bottled.

Thursday, 30 July 2009

Being anti-bottled water, I naturally found this website pretty interesting when I came across. My reasons for being anti-bottled water only consisted of, "isn't this stuff free?" while tappening.com comes up with more credible reasons to put the bottle down.

Their ad campaign, Start A Lie, is certainly controversial, and undoubtedly creative. Their tagline? Start A Lie About The Bottled Water Company: if they can lie, so can you. People certainly have been creative with their "lies", ranging from the weird, "Michael Jackson was a black man until he started drinking bottled water," to startling truths, "Bottled water is allowed to contain up to 3% fecal matter.."

Hula Hoopin' And Scratching

Wednesday, 29 July 2009

Regular readers of the blog will know that I'm a big fan of branding and clever advertising.

This week I discovered this rather cool piece of advertising by potato chip brand, Hula Hoop.

Kanye and LV make some magic...

Tuesday, 30 June 2009

Seems like our Kanye just can’t sit still!
Ever the aspiring fashionista, after working with Nike on the ‘Air Yeezys’, Mr West has collaborated with Louis Vuitton to produce a range of 10 styles of sneaker. We reported on this some months ago and they’re now due for official release in a couple of weeks with an alleged long waiting list for the sneakers.

Personally I can’t see what all the fuss is about; all I see is an ill-advised hybrid range of the Reebok Workouts and the Nike Dunk Hi-tops with some new colour codes, Velcro straps and tassels.

I can’t wait to see the price tag on these babies!!

Lets See If This Works

I read a blog once where the writer talked about his love for a few certain items and a few weeks later, BAM!

The company sent him some stuff, so I thought I'd try this myself. The shoes above, I need, I love, I want! Company, you wanna send me a pair?

Lets wait and see if this works hahaha....

Smarten up, Nas

Sunday, 31 May 2009

I've been out enjoying the glorious British sunshine in between working my ass off at my day job as well as other side projects, hence the lack of regular updates from me.

But I'm back now and I thought why not do a small list of stuff I'll be rocking this summer that may help someone else put together a nice summer outfit, please bear in mind I'm no Gok Wan but I try my best,so humour me.

Lets start off from the top. Shades, I'm going to get myself a pair of wayfarer shades to replace my old one but at the same time I'm looking at these spitfire joints (Second one above). I don't know why but they have this 80s drug dealer feel about them.

If you're unsure due to the structure of your face you can stick to the tried and tested aforementioned wayfarers.

If what the weathermen say this summer is going to be like comes to pass, then I'm going to need to be comfortable in the heat and no other way to do it than in a cotton tee. I usually wear a lot of tees with "art" on them but of late plain tees or tees with simplistic "art" appeal more to my taste.

So I say plain white tees from UNIQLO should do the trick, or American Apparel striped tees. The whole nautical Americana preppy look is big with me right now.

When I stopped wearing any garment over the size of M six or so years ago, my dad (Hi dad!) said to me in our native language, "You've grown up". I guess I can now say the same about footwear, long gone are my days of splashing out on the latest dunks or blazers.

This summer like most of the time, I'll be mostly in Vans eras, syndicates, half cabs but boat shoes and espadrilles will be added to the staple. Yeah, you heard right, even more shocking (To myself at least) is I'm starting to really adore the simplicity of plain white converses.

For many years I was anti converse but now, the simplicity of the plain white ones speaks volumes to me, it's just so clean. But I must warn those that have double digit shoe sizes to be weary of purchasing any plain white shoes...They will make you and Bozo the clown look like foot cousins, in other words.

They make your feet look even bigger than they already are.

So there it is, some of the stuff you will be able to catch me wearing this summer of the "Staycation". If I think of any more stuff I'll do a follow up.

Award Touring

Wednesday, 27 May 2009

The kid, Phil of The Award Tour has just dropped the look book for his summer collection. Dope brand, talented kid.

Take a look at the whole collection simply by clicking HERE. I need that blue summer logo tee in my life!

Here's a short video they made chronicling the shoot.

A year or so ago, I interviewed Phil. HERE's what he had to say.

Comic Book Geeks

Tuesday, 19 May 2009

I met Thai on Sunday for a meeting to discuss some things. Afterwards we hit up Forbidden Planet, London's biggest comic book store.

Here's what happened.

Check back tomorrow for part II when we go hunt for the Spiderman Noir comic book.

In other news, I also managed to finally get my hands on a pair of syndicate suicidal tendencies...Ohhhh. Ok, I'm done.

Items For Sale (Nike SB Blowout)

Sunday, 10 May 2009

My boy Sais (His site is amazing) just informed me he is going to be selling off some of his vast collection of trainers.

Being a massive Supreme head, he has some well sought after goodies on sale, so hit him up. You can view his ebay store HERE.

The Reset In Pictures

Wednesday, 6 May 2009

Last weekend many of London's premiere independent street wear brands came together for the reset. The event is the first of it's kind where you could get all these great brands to buy underneath one roof. Which so happened to be the Nike 1948 store in trendy Shoreditch, East London.

I attended the event and although I turned up slightly late, due to a prior meeting, I really enjoyed the vibe and the turn out was brilliant. My boy ALL CAPS had a stall there and the BNTL family was out in full force to support theirs.

HERE are some pictures from the event courtesy of Trinotron, one of the brands featured.

The picture above was taken by Matt Benson. Can't wait for the next one in August as well as more pictures of the event from Matt.

You Love To Hate

Saturday, 18 April 2009

The kid Bafic is a big non fan of Gordon Brown so he's decided to start a movement.

If you want to show your support for his dislike, hit him up at Bafic.edem@gmail.com for pricing.

Hurry though, he's only printing forty of those bad boys. By the way, the Bafic you see in the picture over the tee will not be on the finished product.

The Foreign Legion

Sunday, 12 April 2009

Sort of continuing on from my last post. Been salivating over Clarks desert boots for a while now, not too hyped about buying too many trainers these days, except Vans.

But I think clean simple shoes, note I said shoes not trainers, are my newest addiction.

Let's hit those sand dunes!

Rap Video Inspirational

Wednesday, 1 April 2009

Rappers love to depict the life of astounding excess in their videos. But cameras stop rolling and the owner of that mansion they rented for the day throws everyone out, one man however lived that life of excess for real.

He was Gianni Versace and earlier this month (March 18th) Sotheby's in London recreated his lake Como villa for an auction of his belongings.

All I can say is wooow! The guy lived like an emperor, from gold trimmed frames to marble Roman sculptures, he had it all. Take a look at some of the stuff he left behind HERE and let's all dream to aspire to the greatest heights of success, but without the gaudy furniture.

Summer Essential

Friday, 27 March 2009

These came in the mail the other day and I am smitten. Tried em on with my gray UNIQLO skinny jeans and they flow like a waterfall.

All I need now is some sunny weather. Can someone tell me why it's been raining, then sunny, then cold all in the spate of a few minutes? Whats going on?

Anyway, next coppage will be a nice pair of converse Chuck lows, all white of course. Some of your are probably surprised and thinking, "Ummm...aren't you the sneaker head kid?". Well, I get bored of trends easily and tend to switch the steez up ever so often, plus that streetwear look is so widespread now I had to switch it up.

Finally! Mishka Store Grand Opening

Thursday, 26 March 2009

I missed out on this, one of my favorite brands finally has their own store. After years of temporary pop-up shops and warehouse sales, Mishka's hard work has finally paid off and 350 Broadway is now home to the most classy, grotesque clothing line out. Bongoboy treats us to a quick tour of the shop and the opening festivities:

Phase One Complete (Again)

Thursday, 5 March 2009

You all remember THIS post?

Well, I tried convincing Roc to get an Apple, but he got an Acer ... which isn't bad since I've reecntly advised my mom to get one.

However, today, I received my newest laptop in the mail. And this is actually phase one for me, as I have a special project coming up ... but nevertheless, the pictures!

and the new vs. the old ...

Phase One Complete

Thursday, 26 February 2009

My laptop came in the mail today. Cost me less than if I had bought it from Comet or any other high street store, and for that I give Kudos to Amazon.

It's the first phase of a little project I'm working on. Phase two shall commence soon, I'm not saying what it is but I just hope it takes off. Believe it or not, this is my first ever laptop. Late? Maybe but it was worth the wait as I saved up and paid for it myself, in fact most of the stuff I do for the site and stuff is paid for from my hard work and sweat.

I have set myself a goal and I aim to achieve it and so far God has been kind enough to connect me to the right dots.

But yeah, below are the pictures of me ripping the package open like a kid on Christmas for those who care.

Remember, phase two coming soon...

Friend & Co.

Monday, 23 February 2009

While browsing the net earlier, I came across these items from Friend & Co. An art gallery in Bristol, UK that claims to be the smallest in the world, if not the world then Bristol...haha... I love it.

What Friends & Co. do is, produce limited edition prints of artists, put on shows and make the most of it as they go along.

Their prices are very reasonable for the fantastic art they sell and in addition to that, they make limited and not so limited edition tote bags. This way, you can carry the art everywhere with you and show it off.

Land Lubbers

Sunday, 22 February 2009

I need these on my feet this summer! Does anyone know if they are going to get a global release or are they just a Japan only exclusive?

It's weird how my taste has changed these days, from street wear to well, smart street wear. A few years ago I would have never have seriously considered buying myself a pair of Converses.

How times change.

Have A Break

Have a Kit Kat. After the somewhat, heavy subject matter below. I thought I'd lighten things up a bit and I found this.

"Have you ever ordered your snack of choice from a vending machine, only to see it teeter invitingly on the end of one of those stupid curly springs without dropping? Of course you have, and you'd think someone would have come up with a more effective system by now.

We're betting 'sticking a human inside' isn't the first answer that popped into your head but this is exactly what Nestle has done with its new Human Vending Machines, which thanks to Kit Kat have been brought to the UK from yep, you guessed it, Japan.

The poor guy on the inside, who looks strangely happy and full of energy (perhaps from eating chocolate all day) will hand you your snack personally and apparently brings the added bonus of 'having someone to chat to'.

Don't expect these things to pop up on every street corner though; they are part of the 'Working Like a Machine' campaign that's being run by Kit Kat to show how people need a break from the monotony of day to day life.

Want some random Kit-Kat facts? Well, it's the UK's number one biscuit brand, was created in 1935 under the name 'Rowntree's Chocolate Crisp' and 37 Kit Kat bars are eaten every second, though by who we're not sure.

The campaign kicked off yesterday at the London Victoria National Rail station, so look out for it if you're passing by." - Paul Lester

I'm so going to Victoria station to see if this is actually there and hopefully get some footage for the site.

Real Men

Friday, 6 February 2009

Don't cut their pizzas with puny kitchen cutlery, they take a buzz saw to that punk!

Introducing the Pizza Pro 3000 from Fred and Friends something I'd like to call one of the greatest inventions of this century.

I mean, how cool is this? You don't need to sweat with a knife trying to cut through your thick crust. Just reach into the draw pull your Pizza Pro 3000 out and get your Tim Allen a la Home Improvement on.

The joys of being a pizza eater just got better.
