B Side SS10 Look Book

Wednesday, 26 August 2009

Renowned British designer, Wale Adeyemi once known for dressing David and Victoria Beckham in his signature attire has just released the look book of his brand, B Side.

The SS10 line takes it's inspiration from the fast forward youth culture of our ever changing cities.

B Side showcases traditional British flavoured cut and sew with a legitimate twist. The collection has classic shapes constructed with modern fabrics consisting of Harrington jackets, collarless shirts and fine gauge cotton knit cardigans.

Our Banner Girl Rules London

Wednesday, 12 August 2009

Extended family member and banner girl (Although no longer blonde) Ms Rinnie was featured in the style section of the London Paper this Monday, 10-08-09.

She pretty much ethered everyone else featured and a big smile ran across my face when I saw her in it whilst on the tube. WNL famo pop up in the most random places I tells ya.

Rinnie gets love always and she dresses better than your favourite style icon, yes I said it.

All Love In The City

Sunday, 9 August 2009

Yesterday, I ventured to the seven dials in Covent Garden to see my peoples, ALL CITY to talk about stuff on the horizon as well as just generally catch up.

For the past two weeks or so they have had a pop up shop at the seven dials to promote their limited edition tees.

Whilst there, I was offered some tees and I picked the two you see in this post. I know everyone and their mothers make t shirts these days but, relationship aside, the ALL CITY garments are of great quality.

Quality cotton, strong neck and brilliant eye for detail, right down to the inside label. So without ado, I implore you to support your local creative collective and go buy a tee.

You can get a tee HERE.

Nothing Like Skating the Day Away in Some SB's

Monday, 3 August 2009

I am a huge skater boy fan. There's nothing like watching a dude in some fresh SB's ride his skateboard around the city. So when I saw this Nike SB ad, I fell in love! It features boarder P.Rod, and has cameos by Kobe, Koston, and the one and only Ice Cube. The ad is fashioned after the classic It Was A Good Day video as the song plays in the background. Great idea Nike!!!

Hardest Squire Ever

British Esquire magazine have done something for next month's edition of the magazine that is a first for their long illustrious history.

For September's edition of the magazine, featuring Quentin Tarantino on the cover. The magazine will come in the usual magazine format, as well as a limited edition hardback edition which will only be available in East Anglia and the south of England.

Looking forward to this as Esquire is one of my favourite lite reads.

Regular readers of the blog will know that I'm a big fan of branding and clever advertising.

This week I discovered this rather cool piece of advertising by potato chip brand, Hula Hoop.

My little brother from across the pond, Akstar just dropped his new season look book. Truth be told, the concept is really quite dope.

I'm not just saying that because he's my friend. I actually mean that, but what do I know, right?

Well feast your eyes below and I dare you to disagree.

Now, head over to Akstarlifestyle and support a focused and driven young man.

Trinotron Site Launched

Sunday, 31 May 2009

The good people over at TRINOTRON just launched their website. I saw it on Saturday and I have to say it's quite amazing, the graphics, the music the colours.

Go check it out HERE. Great to see a London brand doing big things.

Smarten up, Nas

I've been out enjoying the glorious British sunshine in between working my ass off at my day job as well as other side projects, hence the lack of regular updates from me.

But I'm back now and I thought why not do a small list of stuff I'll be rocking this summer that may help someone else put together a nice summer outfit, please bear in mind I'm no Gok Wan but I try my best,so humour me.

Lets start off from the top. Shades, I'm going to get myself a pair of wayfarer shades to replace my old one but at the same time I'm looking at these spitfire joints (Second one above). I don't know why but they have this 80s drug dealer feel about them.

If you're unsure due to the structure of your face you can stick to the tried and tested aforementioned wayfarers.

If what the weathermen say this summer is going to be like comes to pass, then I'm going to need to be comfortable in the heat and no other way to do it than in a cotton tee. I usually wear a lot of tees with "art" on them but of late plain tees or tees with simplistic "art" appeal more to my taste.

So I say plain white tees from UNIQLO should do the trick, or American Apparel striped tees. The whole nautical Americana preppy look is big with me right now.

When I stopped wearing any garment over the size of M six or so years ago, my dad (Hi dad!) said to me in our native language, "You've grown up". I guess I can now say the same about footwear, long gone are my days of splashing out on the latest dunks or blazers.

This summer like most of the time, I'll be mostly in Vans eras, syndicates, half cabs but boat shoes and espadrilles will be added to the staple. Yeah, you heard right, even more shocking (To myself at least) is I'm starting to really adore the simplicity of plain white converses.

For many years I was anti converse but now, the simplicity of the plain white ones speaks volumes to me, it's just so clean. But I must warn those that have double digit shoe sizes to be weary of purchasing any plain white shoes...They will make you and Bozo the clown look like foot cousins, in other words.

They make your feet look even bigger than they already are.

So there it is, some of the stuff you will be able to catch me wearing this summer of the "Staycation". If I think of any more stuff I'll do a follow up.

Award Touring

Wednesday, 27 May 2009

The kid, Phil of The Award Tour has just dropped the look book for his summer collection. Dope brand, talented kid.

Take a look at the whole collection simply by clicking HERE. I need that blue summer logo tee in my life!

Here's a short video they made chronicling the shoot.

A year or so ago, I interviewed Phil. HERE's what he had to say.

ALL CAPS London. Hard Times Photo Shoot

Sunday, 10 May 2009

ALL CAPS is back for his third season. With a recession currently in full swing, he decided to aptly call it, hard times.

We had a photo shoot last Friday in East London and although the look book has not officially dropped, some of the images from it can be seen HERE.

All pictures by Matt Benson.

The Reset In Pictures

Wednesday, 6 May 2009

Last weekend many of London's premiere independent street wear brands came together for the reset. The event is the first of it's kind where you could get all these great brands to buy underneath one roof. Which so happened to be the Nike 1948 store in trendy Shoreditch, East London.

I attended the event and although I turned up slightly late, due to a prior meeting, I really enjoyed the vibe and the turn out was brilliant. My boy ALL CAPS had a stall there and the BNTL family was out in full force to support theirs.

HERE are some pictures from the event courtesy of Trinotron, one of the brands featured.

The picture above was taken by Matt Benson. Can't wait for the next one in August as well as more pictures of the event from Matt.

You Love To Hate

Saturday, 18 April 2009

The kid Bafic is a big non fan of Gordon Brown so he's decided to start a movement.

If you want to show your support for his dislike, hit him up at Bafic.edem@gmail.com for pricing.

Hurry though, he's only printing forty of those bad boys. By the way, the Bafic you see in the picture over the tee will not be on the finished product.

Dance Baby Dance

Monday, 6 April 2009

Another televised product advertisement that caught my eye and tickled my funny bones. Great work LG, or whichever ad agency created this.

I love marketing and advertising.

Deeper Than Rap Indeed

Saturday, 4 April 2009

He's taken a lot of flack from 50cent and his fans lately but has managed to persevere. Rick Ross is really surprising me, honestly.

I have to admit, I have never been a fan but the tides are starting to change. First, I find myself humming to "Magnificent" with John Legend, then I'm loving the simple yet effect and aesthetically pleasing design of his album cover.

Now, I'm being bowled over completely by the "Bawse". Why? Well I just came across the trailer to a short film he executive produced but shot by Rik Cordero to help push his album. What a novel idea!

Between you and I, I would never have imagined the "Bawse" would be this savvy with ways of promoting his upcoming opus, and it works because I'm actually anticipating it!

Crazy, huh? Check the trailer out below.

I love that! The colours, dark and gritty yet somewhat glossy. Some of you may not know, but I love the whole concept of branding, advertising and all that good stuff.

I may have dissed Rick Ross in the past but today, I take my hat off to the man, he really knows how to strategically target his niche market as well as position himself in a hard marketplace.

BAWSE!

The Other Wale

Friday, 3 April 2009

Mr Wale Adeyemi who a couple of years ago dressed David and Victoria Beckham in his signature print clothes has launched a new venture, B side.

Craig just sent me the video look book, as you can see below and I'm really liking a lot of the stuff featured. Wale is reloaded.
